      2013 California Leave of Absence Laws Update

      Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2013

      Time: 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. - Registration and Breakfast start at 7:30 a.m.

      Location: Biltmore Hotel and Suites - Santa Clara

      A recent wave of new California court rulings and regulations have significantly
      changed the landscape for California employers. Attend this seminar to catch up on
      all that's new and bolster your working knowledge of all leave types protected by
      California and federal laws.

      Topics include:
      • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) leave as a reasonable accommodation for
      a disability.
      • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and California Family Rights Act (CFRA)
      • Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL).
      • Other leaves: "A to Z" roundup of other types of protected leave under
      California and federal laws.
      Time will be reserved for questions during the program.

      About Speakers:
      The presenters will be attorney Ray Hixson, Brian Nagatani, and Mary Wang, who are
      partners of the law firm Hixson Nagatani LLP. Hixson Nagatani LLP advises and
      represents businesses in a wide range of employment law matters. The law firm
      provides advice and counsel on proactive steps that employers should take to ensure
      compliance and minimize legal risks, including: leave law compliance, creating and
      updating personnel policies and practices, personnel-related forms, risk assessment
      of contemplated personnel actions, and managers' legal training. The firm also
      defends employers against actual and threatened employee claims, including claims
      made in state and federal courts, arbitration, and government agencies.
