      The History of Eichler Homes

Event Description: The Mountain View Historical Association invites you to join us as we explore the fascinating history behind California’s iconic mid-century modern Eichler homes. Joseph Leopold Eichler was a real estate developer whose distinctive residential subdivisions can be found throughout the state, with 275 in Mountain View alone. The MVHA is excited to welcome special guest speaker Monique Lombardelli who will share Mr. Eichler's crusade to provide affordable housing in the Bay Area, drastically changing the lives of thousands of families of all background at time when racial segregation still created barriers to home-ownership for many. About our Guest Speaker: Monique Lombardelli is the broker and CEO of Modern Homes Realty. She has been featured in national magazines like Dwell, Realtor.com, California Home and Design, Curbed, and Architect Magazine for her work rejuvenating Eichler Homes and specializing in modern home sales. With a college degree for film and media, she has produced films about Modernism to educate buyers. Her presentation using video is effective for home selling and her negotiation skills have put her at the top of her market. Considered an evangelist for Mid-Century Modern style homes, she has done much to revitalize interest in rescuing and preserving their legacy.
