      SKETCHUP WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

SketchUp is a powerful tool for communicating 3D design concepts in professional workflows. Join us for a 2-day SketchUp training workshop that will start with the basics of 3D modeling, move through to creating intermediate-level designs and finish with producing stunning renderings and interactive presentations of your model.

      CLASS DETAILS

      10/1/13, 9 am - 12 noon: SketchUp Essentials 1

This course is designed for students with little-to-no SketchUp experience who want to investigate the best methods for getting started using SketchUp. We'll begin by learning to draw 2D shapes, move quickly into creating basic 3D models and explore navigating around your model in 3D.

      10/1/13, 1 pm - 4 pm: SketchUp Essentials 2

This course is intended for students with basic SketchUp experience who want to investigate intermediate topics. We'll begin working with groups and components, teach modeling tehniques for ehancing speed and accuracy, and learn how to pull together larger, more complex models.

10/2/13, 9 am - 12 noon: Rendering SketchUp models with Shaderlight

Now that you understand the fundamentals for creating designs in SketchUp, we'll use Day 2 to demonstrate how to turn those models into compelling presentations. In this morning session, we'll cover Shaderlight - an interactive 3D rendering plug-in for SketchUp that enables anyone to transform a SketchUp model in to a photorealistic render. By the end of this session, you will understand the basics of how to render a SketchUp model to look more photorealistic, including how to effect lighting, reflection and materials in your rendered image.

10/2/13, 1 pm - 4 pm: Creating presentations in LayOut

At some point in every project, you need to produce a set of drawings that shows your model: plans, sections, elevations, perspectives. LayOut, a presentation tool bundled with SketchUp Pro, is the right tool for the job. In this session, we'll show you how to add model views to pages, choose drawing scales, adjust line weights and add dimensions, callouts and graphics. In the end, you'll have the start of a presentation that will help you communicate design ideas to clients and colleagues.
