      Creating Community

Join Lucas Artists Fellow Hector Dionicio Mendoza, in conversation with collaborators Amalia Mesa Bains and Viviana Paredes, as they discuss Creando Espacio/Place Making, an installation built of natural materials, botanicals, and glass that will be featured in our 2020 Art on the Grounds exhibition SOCIAL SPACES

Together, Mendoza, Bains, and Paredes will explore issues of loneliness through their shared lens as latinx artists, and will discuss the role mentors and community-building played in the development of their professional practice. The artists will also touch on their collective interests in ritual, memory, and traditional herbal ethnobotany, and how these elements can be employed as tools for combating alienation. ABOUT HECTOR DIONICIO MENDOZA
