MIT AI Conference 2019: Future of Computing

In line with the recently announced MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing, this year’s conference will focus on the Future of Computing by exploring how the ways we interact with each other and with the world around us will be transformed by advancements in computing and the rise of artificial intelligence. The conference will embody MIT’s tradition of “mens et manus” - applying technology for real-world impact - by convening a cross-section of leading academics, engineers, business executives, investors, and other experts and luminaries. Our exploration of the Future of Computing will include innovations in computing across technologies and industries, including the latest cloud and edge computing paradigms, optimized AI/ML systems leveraging custom-built hardware, cutting-edge IoT platforms, new developments in quantum computing, blockchain-enabled models of storage and computation, and advancements in cybersecurity. Together, we will delve into how these frontier technologies will shape the future and learn about the computing innovations that are being developed by the earliest stage startups to the most mature corporations alike. In doing so, we will become better-prepared to bring these technologies from concept to reality, shape how they are deployed at scale, and inspire each other to solve for a better world. Last year’s MITCNC AI Conference, focused on how AI/ML is transforming industries, convened more than 1,200 AI/ML experts and enthusiasts (see here for last year’s speakers). Over the course of the conference, forward-thinking executives, leading technologists, respected academics, and experienced investors shared insights on the state of AI/ML, how these technologies are transforming industries, and the ongoing gaps between business needs and technical capabilities (see here for videos from last year’s conference). This year’s conference promises to offer a similarly in-depth exploration of the opportunities in ongoing advances in computing.
