      This is Now: Mike Isaac

In the buzz and glare of Silicon Valley, how long can a golden child thrive? New York Times technology reporter Mike Isaac has taken on that question, thoroughly probing the roots and foibles of Uber for his new book, Super Pumped: the Battle for Uber. Uber's ride-sharing app blasted onto the scene, upending the established world of taxis and public transit. But it was quickly tainted with the spectacular disgrace of founder Travis Kalanick. The building and rebuilding of Uber make for a tale that's already being compared to John Carreyrou's Bad Blood. On November 14, Mike Isaac joins Kepler's in-house journalist Angie Coiro for our ongoing news and culture series, This Is Now. You'll want to be in the audience for this close examination of a phenomenon that's both local and nationals— and a long way from over. Tickets to Kepler’s Literary Foundation events are not tax-deductible. Tax deductible donations can be made online at keplers.org/donate Photo of Mike Isaac by Helena Price Hambrecht.
